Background
Gardeners’ Guild Landscaping was founded in Marin County in 1972.
Our much-admired founder Linda Novy laid the groundwork for GGI’s industry niche and shaped our corporate culture. In the late 1970s, she spearheaded a new approach to landscaping that conserved water, used the least toxic products, and was environmentally friendly. Three new service lines emerged from this work: Our IPM (Integrated Pest Management) division, our eco-friendly program LivingSolutions, and our irrigation division. Linda put us on the map as the go-to experts for environmentally friendly landscaping.
Her management style inspired employees to think more like owners. Years later, Linda sold her company shares to the employees, and GGI became an ESOP. (Employee Stock Ownership Plan).
